If music be the food of love, eat well and play on... Every couple of months we will be playing a few
albums that we really think everyone should know about.
Rox
Are you ready for an exclusive preview? Roxanne Tataei brings conviction to your sound-system; A powerful voice on a stage with a tale or two to tell. Half Jamaican and half Iranian, at the tender old age of 21, her debut album entitled Memoirs is the fortuitous result of hard graft and a singular minded headspace. With a sold out residency and a sensational performance on Jools Holland already under her belt she is ready to release her new single My Baby Left Me on March the 15th and grace the stage at The Tabernacle three days later on the 18th.
Not available to buy at present as this is an exclusive.
Yeasayer
The music of Brooklyn's Yeasayer is an eclectic, genre-bending journey into pop, rock, Middle Eastern and African musics, folk, and dub. Like All Hour Cymbals, this is a thinking man’s album, one that requires its listeners to put on their thinking caps as well as their dancing shoes. All in all, this is a rare sophomore album that widens the band's sound without narrowing its appeal.

Vampire Weekend
New York City's Vampire Weekend mix preppy, well-read indie rock with joyful, Afro-pop-inspired melodies and rhythms. Formed in 2006 the scholarly Upper West Side Soweto of Vampire Weekend’s debut sounded self-assured, but on Contra, they step out of their ivory tower with just as much confidence. The band still flaunts the collegiate sense of discovery that made Vampire Weekend charming — and sometimes too precious — but with more maturity, creativity and cricket jumpers.

Fool’s Gold
Described by Rough Trade as the first great record 0f 2010. Blending African and Middle Eastern influences together with a vague hint of guitar-based Western pop, the Los Angeles world-pop outfit Fool's Gold make music that's as glittery and beguiling as their moniker suggests. The sheer exuberance and spirit of the music makes you instantly fall in love with this album.

Yeti Lane
This 10-tracker melds tribal beats, krautrock synths, sparkling pop, cosmic rock and hypnotic guitars. The result is an album that sounds like a mix of Can circa Ege Bamyasi, Pavement circa Terror Twilight, The Shins and New Order circa Low-Life and makes a monumental psychedelic masterpiece.
